Common questions

Why does the date differ from another converter?

The Republican year began at the autumn equinox as observed in Paris, which does not fall on the same date every year. Converters that apply a fixed rule drift from ones that use the observed equinox. This app uses pre-calculated astronomical data, so it can differ from simpler converters by a day.

Why does a day's dedication differ from a list I have seen elsewhere?

Fabre d'Églantine's report of October 1793 was revised before The Calendar was finalised, and 77 of the 360 rural dedications changed. Sources follow one version or the other.

How do I change the language?

Open the menu, then Parlez-vous? English and French are both complete.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. It makes no network requests. Only the links out to source websites need a connection.
